IKEA
Branding | Events | Merchandise
Project Description
As Lead Designer and Brand Ambassador at IKEA, I ensured the consistent use of the brand across all communications, produced in-house designs, and managed vendor relationships for signage production. During my time at IKEA, I worked on a variety of special events that celebrated both local and Swedish traditions. One of which was for San Antonio’s “Fiesta” event and another was IKEA’s “Midsommar” event.
Design Goal
For both projects, my design goal was to create visually engaging, culturally relevant items that stayed true to IKEA’s brand while celebrating the unique essence of each event. I aimed to balance creativity with brand consistency, ensuring that each piece stood out as both a functional and symbolic part of the event.
Fiesta Medals
Each year during Fiesta, IKEA, along with other local establishments, creates themed medals to commemorate the event. These medals are given away as prizes and sold, with proceeds benefiting the Child Advocates San Antonio. For this project, I was responsible for designing unique medals, each reflecting the spirit of Fiesta while maintaining alignment with IKEA’s brand identity. The design aimed to celebrate the event’s vibrant culture while ensuring the medals were memorable and meaningful.
Midsommar Celebration:
Design Contest Winner
As part of IKEA’s annual Midsommar celebration, I participated in a design contest for merchandise that would reflect the store’s Swedish roots. My design was selected and featured on canvas bags and promotional items in North American IKEA stores. This project allowed me to showcase my creativity while tying in the cultural significance of Midsommar, and I’m proud that my work was chosen to represent IKEA in such a prominent way.
